Hi all,

Please find below the confirmed dates for the 2010 Ladies Grand Prix which should, pending confirmation of sponsorship, be in the Rileys, City Road, Cardiff again. Last year was a great success with a fantastic standard and various winners showing the depth of talent. I have e-mailed every female player i have an address for however can players and area reps pass on the information please? This is easily the best match practice available to women in Wales at the moment and up there with the best in the UK which is why there are players confirmed again from Scotland, England and Wales.

Event 1 - 27th February
Event 2 - 22nd May
Event 3 - 31st July
Event 4 - 16th October

The cost is £80 for the all four events with 50% due by the 1st event, balance by the 2nd. Players can enter on the day but the cost is £30 per event to encourage committment.

Any questions just get in touch and please actively pass on the details to any female players as it can only do good for their game.

Cheers, Claire

Just a quick run down of the 1st event for you all, lots of tough matches and as high a standard as ever. More "newbies" too with Laura Pearce and Sally Daniels from Wales as well as Becky Lecky, Paj and Julia all from England which is great. The 2nd event has had to be moved as the English have changed their tour dates so we would have lost all of them. It will now be on Saturday 12th June, can everyone please check this will be ok for them as it's extemely difficult to please everyone?

Main Event

Quarters Finals

Lucy Williams 2 v 6 Kylie Thomas
Sarah Trudget 6 v 4 Jo Rowland
Becky Lecky 3 v 6 Amanda Watson
Kirsty Davies 6 v 5 Mandy Palmer

Semi Finals

Kylie Thomas 3 v 6 Trudge
Amanda Watson 4 v 6 Kirsty Davies

FINAL

Trudge 2 v 7 Kirsty

PLATE EVENT

Semis

Paj beat Laura Griffiths
Claire beat Kat Claber

Final

Claire beat laura 4-0

Well done all involved, you can see an improvement in some of the less experienced players which is great. Big well done to Kirsty coming through some top talent - Jenny Leavens - Mandy Palmer - Amanda Watson - Trudge.

Thanks to all who attended.

Please note that due to the English mob changing their Tour dates, the 2nd Event of this series is now on the 12th June. The English girls are supporting the events massively so had to change to accomodate. The remaining dates therefore are:

Event 2 - 12th June
Event 3 - 31st July
Event 4 - 16th October

Just a quick note to remind you of the date for the 2nd event, get the diaries/phones out please and get it booked in. I have been in touch with Charlie Ruddy who is working on developing pool in the north west regions of England (i think that's right) and he has 3 girls interested in coming down who i believe are com...pletely new to the pool scene so that'll be brilliant! Charlie has also contacted other development people including Greater Manchester so fingers crossed - woo hoo!

Can the Scottish girls and any other "occassionals" please start checking out transport now to see if maybe you can come down? It would be great to get a real good show, especially with new lassies coming down.

The day went really well and the turnout was great, delighted to have had some of my Scotland team mates down.

Party at night was a success too with a good night had by all, restricted a bit due to the football but went as well as i could hope. Still collecting money in but after paying for everything i reckon we raised over £500 which is pretty good for a Scotland Team fundraiser in Wales lol! Huge thank you to all the help from Elaine, Katie and our fabulous compere Denise who were all shattered after a long day. Big thank you also to all of the English lassies for their ongoing support of the event and for coming on the NAUGHTY WORD! with us at night lol, i had a great time! Thanks again to all of the sponsors of the entries and to Jenny's Snacks, Jackies Cards, Pennies Pool Hall, Cue Here, Goudie Builders (Steenie), Donnie McLeod and Taste of Cornwall. (Donna Davies).

Any feedback, flashbacks or embarrassing moments then please share lol!

Thanks again,

Claire x

I think the telling moment from the weekend was when Sonia very kindly went and got food after the pub shut and left Claire and I in the flat catching up and going to have a can of beer waiting on her coming back. She appeared back all of about 10 minutes later to find both of us cowped, dead to the world  on a couch each :D

In our defence it was VERY late it must have been nearly 1am :S:

To say it was a long day was putting it mildly lol However, it was nice to catch up with everyone again and i thoroughly enjoyed my weekend

Saturday the 31st July saw the 3rd Event of this year's Ladies Grand Prix Series in Cardiff and once again the standard was extremely high. The draw was a bit of a killer for some of us and you can see the standard when you look at the names contesting the plate!

Last 16

Julia Betteridge 2 6 Kirsty Davies
Laura Pearce 6 3 Kat Claber
Becky Lecky 1 6 Jo Rowlands
Pam Jones 6 3 Louise Butler
Sarah Trudget 6 4 Kylie Thomas
Laura Griffiths 3 6 Andrea Reid
Mandy Palmer 6 3 Lucy Williams
Claire Dempster 6 3 Amanda Watson

Quarter Finals

Kirsty Davies 6 3 Laura Pearce
Jo Rowlands 6 3 Pam Jones
Sarah Trudget 6 0 Andrea Reid
Claire Dempster 6 2 Mandy Palmer

Semi Finals

Kirsty Davies 6 2 Jo Rowlands
Sarah Trudget 6 4 Claire Dempster

Final

Kirsty Davies 7 5 Sarah Trudget

A huge well done to wee Kirsty who when she screws the nut always seems to find a gear, proven by her consistency in most events she enters - and she only turns 18 next week!

The plate event saw some good ties too and with such a high standard is still a big ask.

Prelims saw Michelle Jackson beat Sally Davies, Ann Khan beat Eddie Lewis and Sonia Tingley beat Steenie Goudie.

Quarters

Lucy Williams beat Michelle Jackson
Felicity Rees beat Ann Khan
Kylie Thomas beat Jenny Leavens
Sonia Tingley beat Laura Griffiths

Semis

Lucy beat Felicity
Kylie beat Sonia

Kylie & Lucy split the pot rather than playing the final.

Great day, another good turn out and as always spoiled by the Rileys staff, 16th October for the fourth and final event - seems like AGES!!!

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say thank you to all of the players who entered the Grand Prix Series this year. It's been a fantastic standard and whilst the little-upstart Kirsty dominated the results a bit, there has been visible progress with many of the girls and solid match practice all round. I am looking into dates now for next year so if anyone wants to influence these in any way can they please let me know asap.

The final event saw once again some great pool and tough matches and whilst i'm biased, i was particularly proud to see Sonia Tingley get herself into the semi finals, she always battles away but her confidence lately has really come in to its own. I can't write the full rundown, possibly due to my being tipsy but i'll deny it in public, however:-

Semi Finals

Amanda Watson 0 Kirsty Davies 6

Sonia Tingley 4 Claire Dempster 6

Final

Kirsty Davies and Claire split it and I think played best of 3 and I think Kirsty won 2-0 but again I couldn't swear by it lol!

Cheers Girls!xxx
