2010 SCOTTISH LADIES BLACKBALL POOL TOUR Event No. 2

Scottish Ladies TourLast 32

Seasoned A team internationalist Gaynor McHaffie was the first match against newcomer Nicola Treanor; Nicola equipped herself well to the task and put Gaynor under some pressure, however Gaynor used her experience to secure a 6-4 victory. A fantastic performance at your first event Nicola; well done. Krystyna Goudie, aka Steenie was up next against Amanda Sargenti, Steenie looked to be playing very well in securing a 6-1 victory. Terri Lapsley defeated Alloa’s Sandra Bell by 6 frames to 1. The next match was very difficult to call, B team internationalist Fiona Herd was against tour debutant Anne Irvine, Anne took a 3-1 lead before Fiona got herself into the match. Anne managed to win her first tour match with an impressive 6-4 victory. Ayrshire’s Diane Colville was the next match against Roda Young; Diane looked in complete control throughout, chalking up an impressive 6-0 victory. Lisa Dominick against Jenny Lawson had the potential to go the distance and they didn’t disappoint; Lisa came through a tough opener courtesy of a final frame decider. Shetland player Amanda Cutt looked to be playing very well when she secured a very good 6-3 victory against Kim Black. Claire Dempster and Katie Black were finely balanced at 3-3 when Claire showed just how good she actually is when she reeled three off quickly to progress to the last 16. Laura Colquhoun was against Scotland team mate Jackie Williamson in the last match in this round. Laura progressed courtesy of a very good 6-1 victory.

Last 16

Event one finalist Linda Gillies was against team mate Gaynor McHaffie in the first match of this round, Linda secured a 6-3 victory; this set up a clash with Steenie in the quarter final after she defeated Pauline Selkirk impressively by 6 frames to 0. Terri Lapsley defeated good friend and member of the “Falkirk Mental” Katie Paterson by 6 frames to 2. Gillian Hayes was cueing very well and defeated tour debutant Anne Irvine by 6 frames to 2. Yvonne Ewing was against Diane Colville in the last 16 and Yvonne came through this by 6 frames to 2. Lynsey Selkirk against Lisa Dominick was a long match which Lynsey came through, winning by 6 frames to 4. Claire Dempster set up a quarter final match against Elaine Campbell after both secured 6-1 victories over Amanda Cutt and Laura Colquhoun respectively.

Quarter-Finals

The quarter finals put Linda Gillies against Steenie; this was a cracking match throughout with Steenie playing very well and Linda the odd pot or two. Steenie had a chance to win the match but missed a cut on the black; this was the invitation the Scottish Champion was waiting on and she cleared the table to secure a final frame victory. Gillian Hayes put paid to Terri Lapsleys tour with a 6-3 victory. Yvonne Ewing against Lynsey Selkirk was the next match; both players were struggling with the tight bags on table no. 1 and in a poor quarter final, Yvonne came through by 6 frames to 0. Arguably the tie of the round was Claire Dempster against Elaine Campbell, this was a fast and furious potting fest which Claire won by an impressive six frames to one.

Semi-Finals

Linda Gillies was up against Gillian Hayes; this was a match that could have gone either way. Gillian progressed to the final with a very impressive 6-4 victory. Yvonne Ewing against Claire Dempster was yet another very good match; both players were cueing and played well in patches throughout the match. This semi final went to the wire and last two balls on the table; Claire potted a difficult black along the top rail to book her place in the final.

Final

The final was played between Gillian Hayes and Claire Dempster; yet again there was a decent amount of spectators watching the final. Claire secured her first ever tour victory with a very good 6-2 victory. Well done Gill in reaching yet another final; I am sure it’s just a matter of time before you win one of these events. Huge congratulations to Claire Dempster in winning her first ever tour, about time

Another very successful tour event and a big thank you goes to Daz, Tracey and the staff at Hustlers in Rosyth for hosting the event and I am sure we are all looking forward to the next event which is being held on Saturday 28th August, 2010. This event is being followed by the fundraising “Pool’s Got Talent” night which is being held to raise funds for the teams attending France in November to compete in the 2010 World Championships; looking forward to it.
