Bottom half of the draw seen young Terri Lapsley progress to her first tour semi final with a very good 6-2 victory over Amanda Cutt. She was quickly joined by Pauline Selkirk who defeated Gaynor McHaffie by 6 frames to 2. Well done girls, it is good to see new players at the business end of our tournaments.

The semi finals put Leanne Evans against Sarah Trudgett, a brilliant match to watch. Leanne played exceptionally well to go into a 3-1 lead before Sarah clawed the match back, it eventually went to a decider and Leanne held her nerve to progress to the final with a 6-5 victory. Terri Lapsley against Pauline Selkirk was difficult to call with both players suffering from nerves in their first tour semi finals. Both players had chances in this match and Pauline eventually progressed to the final courtesy of a very good 6-3 victory.

The final was played between Leanne Evans and Pauline Selkirk. Leanne went into an early 2-0 lead before Pauline clawed back this deficit. Leanne then showed how good a player she is and secured her first tour win of the season with an impressive 6-2 victory. Well done Pauline in reaching your first final in the ladies tour and hopefully this will be the first of many for you. Congratulations to Leanne Evans on winning Tour Event 5 (grand final) of the season and this victory pushes you into the top four in the rankings, well done.

2009 has proved to be another very successful tour series. Special thank you to Howard Miller (Riley’s), Jacques and the staff/management of The Riley Clubs used, Penicuik, Glasgow, Dunfermline and Bellshill for hosting the events and making the ladies feel very welcome. I am sure that 2010 will be more successful and am confident that the ladies game in Scotland is improving and developing. I for one and looking forward to 2010 already
