Not sure Jenny, Gill is the person to ask as she is the Rep. Hoping the ladies still enter so we can get a team in 11s and hopefully 15s for 2014.

This will go ahead later in the year. Details are to be confirmed.

What I wanted to ask was whether it would be an idea to have a seperate ladies qualifier? I can't promise that this will happen as I intend to raise it to the committee first - they will then vote on it, but I would like to know your preference. The leagues in (or partly in) Lanarkshire are...

Avondale
Uddingston
Motherwell
East Kilbride
Kilsyth
Airdrie
Coatbridge
Clydesdale
Glasgow
Cumbernauld (possibly, depending on affiliation and interest)

The finals day will be last 64 and, to be perfectly honest, I'd like a few women to be in the finals to encourage other women within the area. Now, I'm wondering whether you would prefer the ladies to have their own qualifying section where you play against each other or whether you would prefer to just qualify through the local leagues. A seperate section means some women will be guaranteed to be in the finals, but perhaps by going through local leagues more will qualify?

If any of you play in the leagues mentioned above can you state whether you would enter the competition? It would be 5 entry and best of 5s in qualfying, rising to best of 7s in the finals. This may change when the committee decide upon format but the general conscensus so far is that this is the way to go. We want to appeal to all levels of player to ensure a high turnout.

Pro-rata is expected to be 1 qualifier for every 4/5 entries so would really want 10+ entries to guarantee 2 finals spots.

Would also be interested in any feedback regarding format, dress code, that kind of thing.

Forgot to mention that Maxi will be assisting with the organisation and will be holding the entry fees (so I'm not looking to run off to Europe with your cash!). Also have league reps for 6 of the 9 leagues so far. If you want a seperate qualifier then I'd need a ladies rep as well.

So....interested in entering?....seperate qualifier or not?....any other feedback?

Thank you, and sorry for the long post.

Would it not be simpler to relaunch the lanarkshire ladies open maybe? You could coincide it with the finals so you still get the presence. Had some good weekends in stonehouse, think I've still got my trophy from winning!
There's always a finish!

It's possible Claire. Only issue I can think of is that if the entries are low then the payout might be disappointing.

Perhaps the Saturday before (10th December) and just have everyone turn up on the day?

Any idea of how many women play in these leagues, approx?

I wouldn't want to hold it on the same day as the main event as I'd like the ladies to be in that event too.

I'll run the event on the day.

What do you think it should be best of, and what entry fee would you suggest? (For the Lanarkshire Ladies event, I mean).

We're going to stick with one event for 2011 which will be a Lanarkshire Closed Singles (ie. open to those players who are eligible for the following IM areas in 2011) and will be sponsored by Cue Here.

Cumbernauld - Rep is S MacQueen
Kilsyth - A Houston
East Kilbride - I Livingstone
Avondale - J Fisher
Motherwell - J Burns
Uddingston - F Williams
Clydesdale - D Masterson
Coatbridge - S Johnston
Airdrie - K Donald

Finals (last 64) will be in Cue Here, Airdrie on Saturday 10th December 2011. Entry is 5 and you enter through your IM area.

As the ladies have their own IM area, should we allow them the same for this event or ask them to qualify through whatever league they are registered to play in?

If you want a seperate qualifier then I'll need a rep to organise the qualifier. Names and numbers would need to be in for 1st Sept so we can do our pro-rata. This would give 12 weeks to play qualifiers.

Decision made. Ladies enter through local leagues they play in.
